How to make a simple obstacle and edge avoiding robot car

Here is the method of making a very simple obstacle detection and avoiding robot car. It can be easily converted to a edge detection robot car. So suppose the robot is on top of a table. It will never fall from there as it can detect the edge and takes a turn.
