COLORFUL IDEAS
I just LOVE Marbling with Shaving cream. It is such an easy way to marble paper with lovely results. Rainbows are quite popular and beautiful, so I decided to create some Shaving Cream Marbled Rainbows.
First, spread out some foamy shaving cream on a flat surface or in a tray or pan. Smooth it out a bit.
Then use either food colors or liquid watercolors and put blobs of color with a paint brush or eye dropper. I made the colors in Rainbow order: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Violet. Liquid watercolors give the most vibrant color!
Next swirl/marble the colors with a stick. I used a kebab stick. You could use a toothpick, popsicle stick, or even a stick from outdoors. If you had a fancy comb you could use that too.
Now put a piece of paper on top of the swirled colors and press down and smooth your hands over the paper. Lift up the paper.
Then use a flat edge to scrape the shaving cream off the paper. You could use a lid cut in half or even a piece of cardboard with a straight edge.
Scraping off the shaving cream reveals gorgeous Rainbow Marbled Paper!
So you have an idea for a picture in the forefront of your mind. You get put your box of colored pencils and a pencil sharpener. With the picture still clear in your mind, you sharpen each and every pencil and put a sheet of white paper on the table, ready to get creative. So what would you expect to happen next?
Not what happens here, that’s for sure! Instead of throwing away the pencil shavings and keeping the colored pencils to start drawing with, virtually the reverse happens. When you begin to look closer at the images you will be in for quite a surprise, yet we know you will also marvel at the ingenuity of some people. Though carefully removed from the colored pencils, these delicate shavings have been retained to create the most marvelous array of pictures, either as an adornment to a simple sketch, or as an entire work of art.
